Shows and Jealousy

My two shows this October as are followed:

"A Twisted Fall Show" Hosted by the Mill Street Loft at the Twisted Soul on Raymond Ave in Poughkeepsie, NY. 845.471.7477
The opening is Thursday, October 15th, 2009 at 8:30am and runs until Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 9:00am.

"The Kids Are Alright" Hosted by LeBasse Projects. Located at 6023 Washington Blvd. Culver City, C.A. 310.558.02000
The opening reception is Saturday, October 17th, 2009 in the Project Room.

Here is the finished flamingo piece titled "Jealousy". It is Graphite, Oil, and colored pencil on handmade cotton rag paper. 12"x12" once I cut the boarders off. I'm going to matte it to black foam core and cut down the white since the show has specifications for size. This is going to the last show in the touring TKAA group exhibition.

My site has been updated!!! And redesigned. Bio and Resume also updated and pretty. I also have two new domain names that aren't the Pratt's website.

And my color sketch on my drawing for the last show in the TKAA tour. I'm going to do the mermaid piece for something else, it requires a longer frame. Poor flamingos...

Productive day.

Doodles and Wips

I have two shows coming up in October. When they post some internet fliers or whatever you call them, up, I'll post them here. I have so much work to do, I'm just sort of sketching to clear my head and make sense of things.

For the last piece in the touring TKAA show I want to do this blueish green scene with creepy mermaids and snow white drowning children caught in fisherman's nets. I did this quick mermaid doodle and digital color sketch. I feel more prepared for the piece. Waiting on what size I can do it at...

Some work in progress snaps of the Antler Room piece. I'm frustrated with it.

And some teapots...

Anlter Room Sketch

Personal piece, working title "The Antler Room". Good luck deciphering this one. I plan to paint the interior greenish-blue and have the leaves outside a burning red/orange. I love Autumn...

By the way. I drop little art history references in my works sometimes. The girl with the long hair's feet are a tribute to one of my favorite pieces of all time, Manet's Olympia. This is a horrible print, you can't even see the cat.

Goodbye Summer

I'm still without internet, but that is being fixed today. Heres all the work I've been doing... Libra Tattoo design for a client. I colored it just for the hell of it. I wanted it to look reminiscent an art nouveau style wine label. I scanned this hot dude from my anatomy book to work out placement. I like the top right... that would be awesome. I think my client is doing it small on his shoulder though like the top left.

Painting commission from a couple who saw my show in London. They didn't like it though... and really wanted something closer to the original piece. The really shitty photo probably didn't help. Failure on my part : However I personally really like the painting. Working out details with them now. (Original digital composure at the bottom).
Personal piece I'm working on called "Breast Feeder". Process and work in progress pictures. My camera sucks for artwork, pictures come out WAY darker and yellowed. Don't ask about "KING", I wanted to try using type, but screw it, I think its way more powerful to communicate without words. I think text in artwork defeats the purpose of the artwork, but thats just my personal opinion. I'm sure there are artists who could pull it off wonderfully, but none are coming to mind. I need to lighten the deer and the overall piece in general.

This drawing was found in my folder of handmade paper, so I decided to do something with it. Its a drawing a vellum, colored pencils on the back and matte mediumed to paper I made at Pratt a few years ago. It warped, so its sitting under books until it flattens and I can finish it. This image is half digital, messing around with it until I figure out what exactly to do.
