Happy Birthday

I started this a little ago, and it's just taped on my door waiting for the 2nd coat. I may tend to her tonight. Oil on cotton rag.

I turned 23 on the 23rd. If you live in NYC check out one of Alice's Tea Cup locations. This tea is  amazing. They gave me a complimentary cupcake... but it got smooshed. I also saw Alice in Wonderland finally. I knew I'd be disappointed. Jan Svankmajer puts Tim Burton to shame any day of the week.

I found this Odin card in Korea Town, it looks just like him down to the lopsided patterning :)

Fool and the Fall Final

I feel overwhelmed. I fear failure. Friday is my Birthday.

I've been working on this for what seems like forever. From sketch to drawing to color to type, a lot, a lot of back and forth, with time gaps in between. You may have seen this a ton of times already, but here it is all finished. I've been staring at it too long to say much about the work, but I love the concept and can't wait to see it produced. Details about that when I get them.

For my portfolio I cropped the work.

Peter Red and the Wolf Tryptic

I'm very pleased with this. I've had pent up energy waiting to be released on this. I should have been doing client projects, but it was worth it to use the energy on this while I had it.
I started working on the center in the wee morning and just finished a little ago, my hand is killing me. Is that normal for your hand to ache after drawing for a long period of time or is there something wrong with me? I hope not.
I'll discuss the piece a little later, but just to repeat the theme, it's part of my personal thesis... coming of age.

BRAINS!

Zombies for teeshirt. I wasn't going to do this yet but I guess I liked my doodle. Back to work, more details when production details are worked out.
Oh and I got my Hunt & Gather in the mail. Hooray! It looks sick. The show opens in Cali tomorrow evening. If you're in the area go have a looksie. Artists from the book contributed 12"x12" pieces. Sneak Peek.

I'm now well rested after Easter weekend. Man, I was having like a panic attack all last week.

Crap, I saved over the .jpg of the drawing, but heres a mock I had done with it.

Color!

Peter and Red

Two parts of a triptych I'm working on in between jobs. I'm still working on Peter more, I was falling asleep by the end of it. The triptych includes the folklore from Peter & the Wolf and Little Red Ridding Hood constructed in the message I'm sending (main theme: another coming of age as that is part of my personal thesis I'm working on). I thought of better ideas for the center piece so I'm reworking that. I'm not even sure on the size/placing.
I'm heading up to my Sister's for Easter. I'm hoping to do a lot of work up there, I bet it's pretty. Maybe I'll bring my camera. I'll show some sneak peaks of the projects I'm working when I come back.

Also. Check out some press about Hunt & Gather on the Juxtapoz [website]
Be sure to get your copy! [Mark Batty Publishers]

Here is the finished painting I shipped off. I think my digital work is still stronger but I feel I'm making strides. It probably would have been smart to do this with a not so detailed piece. It's 12"x12"

pencil, ink wash, digital:

digital Print out on cotton rag paper, painted over with oil and drawn over with various pencils:

The show is opening April 9th at the Think Space Gallery. [More Information]

Also be sure to download the April wallpaper for you iphone, computer, or whatever electronic device you can fit it to by Designcollector.net It isn't up yet, but I'm sure it will be soon, so check back. I did the piece for April if you remember it from months ago.

Have a great weekend and Happy Easter! Not in so much a religious way, but I really like bunnies. Who doesn't? Well if you don't you can go eat their chocolate heads off.
