Blue? Green?

I've painted so much today I can't tell what color is what anymore. I had to paint my painting final this morning but thats not posted. I have to take pictures of some of the work I've been doing in Life Study class. Couple things from my book, I'm using more contrast and cooler colors and am liking the change.

Some Finished Paintings for Rudy

So finished paintings for one of my senior project classes. I have a ton of other things finished too, but this is all ready for printing and reproducing so I have nice files. I think I need more ram. Any artists reading this, how much ram do you have? The triptych piece is I think 19x62 and I'm sure the lagging size tacked about an hour or two onto computer time. Frustrating.

Triptych. "Hate, Lust, Love"
It lines up and you really have to see it in person because the computer screen limits your viewing ability.

This other thing is the tee shirt colored with a dropped in background.

Oh My!

I do so much work I forget what I posted last. I'll just wait until the end of the semester to post whatever, but I took a picture of this to show my friend and figured I'd post it here too. Its for a tee-shirt. (Or maybe tee-shirts if I find myself with nothing to do over winter break). I still have to texture all the fur, fill in the stripes, then play around with the new inky things I've been doing (I haven't posted any of that stuff here yet).

New York Observer

I'm not feeling well at all, but then I woke up to the e-mail telling me my illustration is going to be in the New York Observer. My first editorial piece published. Now I have galleries, children's books, and this.

Here is the illustration. I don't like it that much, just because I didn't find much interest with the book review. It is a memoir of a wife who is dealing with her once brilliant husband's decreasing physical and mental capability. Its printing 4x6 which explains the not much detail.

Also here is new sketches for my children's book.

Here is another finished spread of my client's book. I really like this page. It needs some revisions. I have a bunch of these done. I really want to show them, but meh... don't want to spoil it.

More Spreads...

Two more from my book (out of order). I have more of my client's book, but not posted, I think I'm going to rework it to be less boring and also I shouldn't post the whole thing here anyway. The colors on my layout for the 9-tail princess page are horrible. I'm stuck between making it my usual soft pastel pallet or making it bright and happy and all children-y. I think I'll play with it later after I get actual sleep.

Children's book con't.

So here, two sketch spreads from my children's book (not in order) and above one finished spread from my client's book. Oh there is an example of layout too.

School and such

Oh look, its me. This is for something that takes explaining. One of my senior projects I'm doing a children's book and this one is about me and my sister when we were kids and some Korean folklore, because if you know a bit about me, you'd know that I have an adopted sister and grew up with an influence of multiple cultures.

My other class I'm doing a children's book I got hired to do. If  I'm not allowed to use that I suppose I won't be sleeping for 4 months or so. So yeah, I got a job to do these books, 5 in all if everything goes well on both ends with the first. Wonderful! I'd tell you more about it, but I think I should keep it a surprise, maybe I'll post some spoiler images when I start finishing the pages.

Work is ready,Summer is over

I never got around to doing my tee-shirts for a few reasons. For one, I've never done them before and while watching a friend do her's I didn't think it would work out so nicely especially with delicate line art. I also didn't want to invest more money than I already have into this, my funds are very low right now. Looking back over the summer, my very last summer before I hit the real world. I did a nice body of work and am getting a lot of offers. I did get in and win an award in the SOI show, and had two gallery shows, one international.

I bought all these pens and pencils and such to play with. My teachers keep telling me to use ink, but I honestly don't like using ink at all, nor do I especially like how it looks. The goose picture I did my normal drawing, then went back with a brush pen, which I've done in a few other pieces and people really liked them, I don't like how it looks. The fairy picture (oh and the wings are on vallem paper- will put together when I scan) I used some kind of carbon pencil or something. Why didn't I think of it before, its so obvious. I'm also going to try charcoal pencil and start to shade things a bit with another piece, but I can't find a good brand. Charcoal is so chalky... I wonder if they make a smooth charcoal pencil.

Pink and Pomegranate

I've had this blog a while, I'm so bad at posting things. I like to stay in my head... I've done a bunch of stuff over this summer, I have yet to post it to my website either, but its all over the place.
This is my current project. Two sets of two to be silk screened. Its for my upcoming show down south in September. This along with the other seven paintings from the previous show in Sydney earlier this summer. When I'm not sick anymore I'll go to the print lab. These are just the digital layouts.

I think I'll be doing tee-shirts too, but only one color of the line art. I don't really have time to do 3 color tees on like 3 different sizes and two different sexes. If I don't get better soon I may not even be able to do the tee-shirts :(
